Classic Program Details

11u - 14u

The 11U-14U Classic program is offered to players who are ready to commit themselves to soccer at a higher level.  The Classic Program stresses player development over results and will focus on the development of individual skill, technique, and game understanding.  Classic teams are selected at evaluations in May and will participate in a NCYSA Classic League in both the fall and the spring.

The Specific Goals of the 11U to 14U Classic program are:

  • To create a positive environment for players, coaches and parents
  • To focus on technical and tactical development of each individual player
  • To focus on principles of play within team development
  • To teach a possession based style of play
  • To develop confident and creative players
  • To use evidence based coaching when implementing practice sessions and in game coaching
  • To continue to promote a love and passion for the game of soccer
  • To enhance game understanding and further knowledge and concepts of the game
  • To educate parents about proper expectations in their child’s youth soccer experience

Age Group / Genders

The 11U-14U Classic Program is open to boys and girls. Players must attend evaluations in May to be placed on a team for the following fall and spring. Example: evaluation in May 2016 for fall 2016-spring 2017 season.  CLICK HERE for a chart of programs available to our players.

Director and Coaches

The Boys 11U-14U Classic Program is directed by Mark Simpson and the Girls 11U-14U program is directed by Alex Douyon. Teams will be coached by directors of coaching, assistant directors of coaching, or by qualified NSCAA/USSF licensed staff.    CLICK HERE to view the Twins Directors, Coaches, and Staff.

Commitment – Training and Game Events

The 11U-14U Classic Program is a two season commitment held in the Fall (mid-August to mid-November) and Spring (end of January to beginning of May). Players will practice 3 nights per week at BB&T Soccer Park. Girls will train on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays while the boys will train on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Time slots vary based on age and coach commitments and will start at either 5:00 PM, 6:15 PM, or 7:30 PM.

Games will be played on weekends against other clubs in the area, with the possibility of an occasional weeknight game. Players will play in at least 8 games and will participate in two tournaments each fall and spring. Travel will vary by team and is dependent on which NCYSA division a team is placed in; teams can be placed in the East, West, or Piedmont division.  At least one tournament will be a home tournament, and there is a possibility of a tournament being out of state.

15u - 16u

The 15U-16U Twins Classic Program is designed to create the best training and playing environment possible to help our players hone their technique and increase their understanding of the game.  Players will be challenged to compete at a high level and meet the technical, tactical, physical, and psychological demands of the game. Players must attend tryouts each Spring and teams are selected and formed to compete within the NCYSA single-season Fall or Spring calendars opposite the traditional North Carolina High School season.

The Specific Goals of the 15U-16U Classic Program are:

  • To create a positive environment for players, coaches and parents
  • To educate parents about proper expectation in their child’s youth soccer experience
  • To focus on technical and tactical development of each individual player
  • To focus on principles of play within team development
  • To teach a possession based style of play
  • To develop confident and creative players
  • To use evidence based coaching when implementing practice sessions and in game coaching
  • To continue to promote a love and passion for the game of soccer
  • To enhance game understanding and further knowledge and concepts of the game
  • Provide guidance to players and parents interested in college soccer

The 15U-16U Classic Program is open to boys and girls born in 2002 and 2001. Girls play in the Classic Program in the fall, while boys play in the spring. Players are encouraged to play for their respective high schools in the opposite season. Example: evaluation in May 2016 for fall 2016 (girls) and spring 2017 season (boys).
